I höstas hölls i Eutin Tyskland den första finalen i EBC, European Blues Contest. Stolta och framgångsrika svenska deltagare var Steve Grahn, Mattias Malm och The Sharpnotes. Men Eutin en lång bluestradition. I år hålls den 21:a festivalen! Med bland andra de svenska deltagarna från EBC-finalen. Åk till Eutin 21-24 maj. Det är fri entré! CW Jones & Band are actually the hottest blues act from Canada. US-„Blues Revue Magazine”: the 29 years old singer and guitar player JW combines the qualities of T-Bone Walker, Johnny „Guitar“ Watson and Clarence Gatemouth“ Brown in his person. With outstanding guitar playing and a fantastic stage show the trio already conquered the stages on 4 continents.

Latvian Blues Band (Latvia)
–Funky Chicago & R´n´B-
The quintet is one of the finest young European blues bands. They just won the band contest of the Baltic Blues Challenge (with 7 nations participating) in an impressive way. They have performed with more than 150 blues stars - including Bob Margolin, Carey Bell, Phil Guy, Louisiana Red, Duke Robillard and Studebaker John. The band is one of the few European acts ever to perform at the world famous Chicago Blues Festival.

Rita Engedalen & Margit Bakken (Norway)
–From Blues to Folkblues-–
Rita is the winner of Norwegian Grammy Award for best blues CD release in 2006. Dusty roads, back and forth from the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi Delta are areas she travels musically. Her intensity and her strong and rich voice mixed with deeply rooted soul reflect her personal musical expression. For this concert she will be accompanied by Margit Bakken.

The Sharpnotes (Sweden)
–Rockin´ R´n´B-
In the summer of 2006 five boys from Stockholm got together and discovered that they all had something in common - the love for blues and roots music. The band, influenced by people like Magic Sam and Ray Charles, performs a mix of original music as well as covers. With focus on energy and rhythm the youngsters do not only entertain, but they are living proof for the blues being alive and well. In 2009 they were second best for the Swedish “Janne Rosenqvist Memorial Award “.

We are very proud of this: Marquise Knox and his band will perform their first time ever concert in Europe at our festival – all the more since he´s just been nominated for the Blues Music Awards. Born in Granada, Mississippi, he learned to play guitar from his grandma. In a short time -, he´s just 18 years old - he made his way from small clubs to the stages of the big American blues festivals. Marquise and his perfect band are promising an evening with old school blues between Chicago and the south at its best!

–Blues´n´Boogie-
For 19 years (over 2000 concerts!) Georg Schroeter & Marc Breitfelder are ever-present on stages all over Germany and Europe. Their program is varied with many own compositions and presents driving boogie woogie, , emotional blues songs and compositions far beyond blues and boogie. In 2009 they won the German & Baltic Blues Challenge. Special guest in Eutin: drummer David Herzl.

The highlight of the festival- directly from Houston/Texas to Eutin: The Texas Queen of Blues of Blues and her band! Being a winner of the Blues Awards 2008 and the International Blues Challenge 2005 and because of her overwhelming concert highlighting the BluesBaltica 2007 it was a must to invite her to Eutin again. Look joyfully ahead with us for one of the greatest female singers of the Blues and her fantastic band. We’ll experience a concert full of emotions, joy of life and fun.

Steve Grahn has been playing the blues since 1962 and has released four records. Two with the band “Three Studs and a Stone”: Live At The Blue Boat (1999) and Ain't No Blues On My Radio (2000); one solo acoustic CD: Steve Grahn solo (2004), and the latest one: That´s Alright (2006) with the guitarist and dobro player Mattias Malm. Steve Grahn is the winner of the great Swedish blues prize “Janne Rosenqvist Memorial Award 2009“.

Ray Schinnery has been dubbed a “Blues Singer” but he is much more than this. His range is unbelievable, from passionate, soul stirring ballads about friendship and love lost and found to hilarious blues tunes about big fat women and hound dogs. One fan´s quote: “Ray can move you to tears one second and have you laughing out loud the next.” Again a top act ends our festival!
